The art of Pattachitra has been adapted to create beautiful coasters with wooden framework for your home. Inspirations have been borrowed from the abhinaya and mudras of Odissi female dancers. This product is a piece of art and an Indiavaale original, representing the perfect blend between traditional & contemporary.
ABOUT THE ART
"In Sanskrit, 'Patta' means canvas and 'Chitra' means picture. The art traditionally practiced in Odisha since generations, celebrates the stories of Lord Jaggannath, Radha-Krishna & Ramayana. Artisans prepare the canvas and colour dyes using natural ingredients. The preparation process takes them 5 days alone. The artworks are prepared with colourful imagery with intricately painted details.
The art in these coasters is presented by Shri Bishnu Kinkar ji. He resides in the UNESCO Heritage village Raghurajpur in Odisha. Every household in his village earn their livelihood through Pattachitra artwork. His house entrance is ripe with beautiful artwork. Inside his house are a few hundred artworks made by his father, brother and himself. Along with his village folk, he is working laboriously every day for the revival of Pattachitra art to support the economy of the village. Indiavaale feels privileged to support him in this endeavor.
