Bidaai is a post marriage ceremony in India. After the wedding rituals are completed, the bride's family escorts her outside the doorstep of their house and into her married life. This ceremony is the most emotional part of Indian weddings as the bride's family wishes her a teary farewell. Here the groom's convoy can be seen taking the bride to her husband's home with elan. This picture has been hand painted on silk.

In sanskrit, Patta means 'canvas' and 'chitra' means picture. The art traditionally prcatised in Odisha since generations, celebrates the stories of Lord Jaggannath, Radha-Krishna & Ramayana. The artisans prepare the canvas and colour dyes using natural ingredients. The prepation process takes them 5 days alone. The artworks are ripe with colourful imagery with intricately painted details.
